Barcelona – Getafe Preview

Barcelona faces Getafe at the Montjuic in a match from the 26th round of La Liga. The Catalans are unbeaten in their last four games in the league and won three of them, but now they are facing a tough opposition. Let’s preview this fixture in our best soccer predictions today.

Barcelona are getting better results since the manager Xavi Hernandez announced his departure after the end of the season. Since his revelation to the press, Barca won 10 points out of 12. This comes to tell us that something good is happening at Barcelona right now – they are improving. Of course, now they are 8 points behind Real Madrid in the league, but they are still in the Champions League race.

In their last league game Barcelona achieved a dramatic 2-1 win against Celta Vigo at the Balaidos. Robert Lewandowski scored both goals for Los Cules, including a late winner from a penalty kick in the 97th minute. Lewandowski now has 12 goals in La Liga since the beginning of the season. The Polish star went through a rough time lately, but now he’s looking better. Lewandowski will be important for Barca in the remaining months of the season.

Joao Felix and Ferran Torres could return for action against Getafe. Both strikers were recovering from injuries, but now they look ready to play again. This would allow Xavi to rest the youngster Lamine Yamal who had to play too many minutes lately. Raphinha is also up for selection which is good news for the manager.

Xavi is still trying to find a solution to his problems related to the pivot position. The arrival of Oriol Romeu was far from successful so in the last few games Xavi is playing Andreas Christensen as a defensive midfielder. Don’t be surprised if Christensen finish the season at this role – there aren’t many other options for Xavi to choose from.

Lamine Yamal is impressing everyone with his performance this season. Some people might be forgetting this, but Yamal is just 16-years old at the moment. He got a lot of minutes because of the absence of Joao Felix and Ferran Torres, and he used them well – he’s playing very well lately. As we said, Lamine should be rested against Getafe so maybe we will see Felix, Ferran or Raphinha instead of him in the starting eleven.

Getafe approach this visit to Barcelona from 10th place in the standings. Jose Bordalas’ team is having a solid season. The most important thing is that Getafe are looking safe from relegation. They are a tough team to play against and Barca will feel it when they meet them on Saturday.

Borja Mayoral is Getafe’s big star this season. The former Real Madrid striker is one of the best goalscorers in the league this season – he has 15 goals. Just one player in the entire league has more goals than him – Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham.

But Mayoral is not the only dangerous player in Getafe’s squad. The arrival of Mason Greenwood was successful as the Englishman is playing well. At the same time Jaime Mata and Jordi Martin are troubling the opposition’s defense, too.

Barcelona’s former midfielder Ilaix Moriba could face Los Cules on Saturday. The young midfielder moved to Getafe from Valencia, and he already debuted for the team. Most likely Moriba will start from the bench, but he could come in during the second half.

That’s the best soccer predictions today for the La Liga fixture between Barcelona and Getafe in the Catalan capital. Is this going to be an easy one for Barca? Most likely not, but let’s see how Xavi’s boys will perform.
